A solid baffle wall, blow-out back and safety glass or perspex windows are used to direct escaping pressure out of the back of the gauge to prevent operator injury in the event of a gauge failure. Surface mounted gauges should use mounting extensions no shorter than 20mm to allow for correct operation of the safety design.

It is imperative that extreme care is always taken in the manufacture, testing and installation of oxygen gauges to avoid any oil contamination.
